Memorable Professional Internship Experience:

My favorite experience from my internship was being able to attend MinneCon. A few designers and I were able to take the last two hours of the day and walk around the Depot in Minneapolis to learn about all the new products that came out at NeoCon. Afterwards, we were invited out to dinner with one of the product reps. The interior design profession is a very close knit community and maintaining those connections is key in the success of the company.

 

Another memorable experience would be the rep expos. Each month the firm would hold a rep expo which happened the second Wednesday of every month. Different reps of different products would come in with samples and brochures and inform the designers about their products and anything new that recently came out. It was sort of like a mini MinneCon on a more manageable scale.

 

I also enjoyed sitting in on the staff meetings to learn about what has been happening during the month. They would talk about projects currently being worked on as well as what is working and what is not so that the entire team can learn from each other’s mistakes. I enjoyed getting to know everyone that I worked with and being able to learn along the way. I loved the atmosphere of the firm and how everyone was friendly and willing to answer any questions you may have.
